The fifth year of the New Normal begins in 2024. Finland prepares for war. In Helsinki, Jesaja Jalonen, a remote digital worker, prepares for the run of his life.

Jesaja is a docufictional description of one man’s path into complete marginalization from society in Finland, 2024. Lauri Luhta portrays the main character Jesaja Jalonen, a 33-year-old lonely long-distance runner and remote digital worker. Jenni Luhta, who photographed the film, is the voice of Prophet Isaiah who Jesaja listens to as the soundtrack of his life. The work, with is unexpected plot twists and suprise guests, wrote its own screenplay during the year 2024.

Jenni and Lauri Luhta, whose background is in contemporary and performance art, live and make films togerther in Helsinki. The works are ambitious in their subjects, rich in their content, digital in their technique and ecological in their production.

The first feature film by Jenni and Lauri Luhta was Syndafloden, in Swedish language, completed in 2021. It was followed by Moses, which was selected to 2024’s International Film Festival Rotterdam’s Tiger Competition. Jesaja the third film and the first picture in Finnish by the Luhtas. It was filmed in 2024, edited in 2025 and will be released in 2026. At present, Jenni and Lauri are busy shooting their fourth film To the East.
